प्रिय भाईयों और बहनों, आज के प्रथम पाठ में हम एक ऐसे भविष्य की बात सुनते हैं जो आशा और प्रतिज्ञा से भरा हुआ है। यह वह समय है जब परमेश्वर धार्मिकता और न्याय लाने के लिए एक धार्मिक शाखा, अर्थात एक उद्धारकर्ता को उत्पन्न करेंगे (यिर्मयाह 33:14-16)। यह हमें यह याद दिलाता है कि अंधकारमय समय में भी परमेश्वर उद्धार और पुनर्स्थापन लाने के लिए कार्यरत हैं।
संत पौलुस हमें परमेश्वर के बुलावे के योग्य जीवन जीने का आग्रह करते हैं। वे हमें एक-दूसरे के प्रति प्रेम में बढ़ने और परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाले मार्ग पर चलने को प्रेरित करते हैं। यह केवल तब संभव है जब हम धार्मिक शाखा, यानि यीशु मसीह में जड़ें जमाए हुए हों (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 3:12-4:2)।
आज के सुसमाचार में यीशु हमें जीवन की चुनौतियों से फंसने के खतरे के प्रति सचेत करते हैं। वे हमें जागरूक और सतर्क रहने की शिक्षा देते हैं क्योंकि हम नहीं जानते कि मनुष्य का पुत्र कब आएगा। परंतु अनिश्चितता के बीच भी हमें आशा है, क्योंकि हम जानते हैं कि यीशु हमारी धार्मिक शाखा, हमारे उद्धारकर्ता और मुक्तिदाता हैं (लूका 21:25-28, 34-36)।
जैसा कि यिर्मयाह 33:15 में लिखा है, "उन दिनों और उस समय, मैं दाऊद की वंशावली से एक धार्मिक शाखा को उत्पन्न करूंगा; वह देश में न्याय और धार्मिकता करेगा।" यह धार्मिक शाखा यीशु मसीह हैं, जो आशा और उद्धार लाते हैं। जैसे ही हम आगमन के पहले दिन में प्रवेश करते हैं, आइए हम अपने उद्धारकर्ता और मुक्तिदाता से प्रार्थना करें कि हम इस आशा को थामे रख सकें। यह आशा हमारे जीवन की चुनौतियों को पार करने में हमारा मार्गदर्शन करे। हम परमेश्वर के बुलावे के योग्य जीवन जीने का प्रयास करें और सतर्क रहें, ताकि जब मनुष्य का पुत्र आए, तो हम उसके स्वागत के लिए तैयार हों।

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, in today’s first reading, we read of a future filled with promise and hope, where God will raise up a righteous branch, a Saviour who will bring justice and righteousness (Jeremiah 33:14-16). This passage reminds us that even in the darkest of times, God is always working to bring about redemption and restoration. St.Paul urges us to lead lives worthy of God’s call, to increase and abound in love for one another, and to live in a way that is pleasing to God.
This is only possible when we are rooted in the hope of the righteous branch, Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 3:12-4:2). In today’s Gospel, Jesus warns us of the dangers of being caught by the challenges of life. He urges us to be vigilant, to stay awake and be alert, for we do not know when the Son of Man would come. But even in the midst of uncertainty, we can have hope, for we know that Jesus is our righteous branch who is our Saviour and Redeemer (Luke 21:25-28, 34-36).
As the prophet Jeremiah writes in 33:15, “In those days and at that time, I will make a righteous branch sprout from David’s line; He will do what is just and right in the land.” This righteous branch is Jesus Christ, who brings hope and redemption. As we enter into the first day of advent, let us pray to the Lord our Saviour and Redeemer so that we may be able to hold fast to this hope, and may it guide us as we navigate the challenges of life. May we lead lives worthy of God’s call, and may we always be vigilant, ready to meet the Son of Man when he comes.
